Kate is an environmental archaeologist and geoarchaeologist with over ten years of experience working in the commercial sector. Prior to joining Headland Archaeology she was employed as an environmental specialist and manager for Pre-Construct Archaeology in London where she was responsible for overseeing and coordinating the environmental processing team, including monitoring productivity and performance and producing and managing budgets for assessment and analysis work. She has a broad knowledge base and has experience in developing environmental sampling strategies for a wide variety of commercial sites, in addition to supervising and undertaking on and off-site and laboratory based sampling and specialist processing.

Kate has been involved in the production of over two-hundred specialist assessment and analysis reports during her time in commercial archaeology, and has particular experience in the identification and analysis of charred and waterlogged plant remains. Her previous work has also included reporting on palynological and malacological remains, and undertaking geoarchaeological fieldwork and reporting.

She joined Headland Archaeology in December 2020 as a Senior Environmental Specialist, and now manages the Environmental and Geoarchaeological teams. Kate is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the environmental workflow for the company and delivering geoarchaeological fieldwork and post-excavation projects from tendering to archive.
