Luke joined Headland as a Project Officer in 2010 and was appointed Senior Archaeologist the following year and Project Manager in 2015. He is based at Headland’s Midlands & West Office in Herefordshire and has extensive local knowledge having worked in the region since 2004. In his current role Luke provides advice to clients, prepares tenders for archaeological services and, once commissioned, is responsible for the delivery of large-scale archaeological projects both in the field and during post-excavation work.

Luke has led desk-based, geophysical and excavation projects spanning archaeological periods from prehistory to the Industrial Age. Having extensive experience of leading demanding archaeological projects in the field, Luke now employs that knowledge in designing innovative solutions to achieve the best outcome for client and archaeology alike.

In addition to project design and implementation, Luke has a strong publication record. As Site Director on the Cathedral Close excavations, Luke co-authored the resulting public access book ‘Death in the Close’ which has received acclaim both within the archaeological community and beyond.
