Principal Consultant
Sarah is a principal consultant for archaeology and cultural heritage. She provides archaeological and heritage advice to clients and colleagues for the management and enhancement of archaeology and historic places on multi-disciplinary projects. She specialises in cultural heritage resource management, environmental impact assessments and the preparation of mitigation strategies for development projects. Sarah specifies and manages the work of archaeological contractors and conservation specialists.
Sarah has been involved in archaeology for over 35 years and worked solely in archaeological and heritage consultancy for over 18 years. During this time she has worked on and managed hundreds of archaeological and heritage projects, across the UK and Ireland. This has involved the production of client reports on a wide range of major urban, brown and green field sites for housing, pipeline, road, rail, military, redevelopment and renewables projects. This work has involved all types and periods of archaeological remains including offshore projects. She has considerable experience of archaeology and heritage in the planning process. Her work has also included extensive liaison and consultation with national agency and local government archaeological advisors, other heritage organisations, the general public and clients.
Sarah has specialist skills in:
• Advising developers on the impact of development proposals on historic environment resources, liaison with consultees and statutory bodies
• Management and monitoring of archaeological and heritage projects and mitigation measures
• Archaeological desk-based studies and research, field survey, excavation, post-excavation and reporting
• Assessment of the importance and significance of cultural heritage resources and their settings, assessment of archaeological and heritage potential
• Route planning and mitigation for linear schemes
• Environmental impact assessment and environmental statements, Preparation of heritage statements
• Preparation of scopes, briefs, specifications and mitigation strategies for archaeological fieldwork, preparation of heritage management and mitigation strategies
