Steve Nicholson

Steve has been working in the construction sector in groundworks and civil engineering for 5 years, with a previous 2 years H&S training background. During his first 2 years he travelled the country delivering a variety of training including: IOSH - Asbestos - Manual Handling - NEBOSH General.

After 2 years he decided to move in to a more hands on role and joined TW Civils as Health & Safety advisor. During his time there he developed his knowledge of occupational health related issues, such as HAVS and dermatitis. Whilst at TW Civils he undertook and completed his NEBOSH diploma, which he achieved in under 12 months. He also successfully achieved his chartered status with IOSH during this period. Since joining Headland Archaeology in May 2021 he has maintained an open door policy with the SHEQ department as the go to place for help, info, coaching and mentoring.

Steve has also led a team that aligned the company management systems to the requirements of ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 which the company achieved in November 2021and sit alongside the company’s existing ISO 9001 certification. Steve has also successfully increased communication within the company through monthly safety bulletins and quarterly newsletters to inform all staff on SHEQ related topics. He also undertakes regular site visits where he discusses any issues staff may be experiencing on a one to one basis.
