Principal Geophysicist
Ross graduated from York University in 2013 with a BA in Archaeology and has subsequently accrued more than 12 years’ experience in commercial archaeology, the majority in geophysical survey. He joined Headland in 2015 as a Geophysical Survey Supervisor and now is employed as a Senior Archaeologist specialising in Geophysical Survey. As well as expanding his knowledge of report writing, data processing and CAD/QGIS based skills, he manages the day to day running of projects, either from the office, or on site, reporting to the Project Managers as suitable. He also manages a small group of less senior colleagues, helping with their development at work and through the company.
He has led many large housing development projects as wells as regional linear infrastructure schemes, and over the last few years, energy generation and service upgrade schemes for such companies as Anglian Water and National Grid.
Ross is experienced in undertaking both conventional gridded magnetometer surveys as well as large scale multi-sensor GPS based surveys. In addition, he has experience in earth resistance (ER), electromagnetic (EM), ERT, ground penetrating radar, (GPR) and topographical survey.
