Yorkshire & NorthGeophysicsOffice
Head of Geophysics and Exploration
As the Head of Geophysics and Exploration, Sam leads the geophysical survey department overseeing the resource programming and delivery of all projects. He joined Headland Archaeology in 2015 as a Project Manager for geophysics. Sam works closely with Senior Management, Clients and field staff which ensures that projects keep to their complex time constraints and to budget. Scientific innovation projects within the geophysics department are also overseen by Sam, taking a lead on the research projects.
Sam has over 24 years’ experience working in commercial, archaeological geophysical survey where he has worked on projects throughout England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Italy. These projects have ranged from small scale heritage research sites to large scale national infrastructure projects. An area of expertise is the delivery of linear projects, having successfully managed onshore cable corridors, linear rail schemes, road corridors and large scale haul road and pylon upgrades. Recent projects have included Norfolk Vanguard onshore Cable Corridor, HS2, the A12 and Norwich to Tilbury Grid Upgrade.
